Healthy Sleep Advice from your East Oltorf Apartments

Do you wake up everyday in your apartments on East Riverside feeling refreshed and revitalized? Sounds nice, doesn’t it? We would hope that every resident wakes up feeling like they got a great night’s sleep, but unfortunately, that’s simply not the case for a lot of people. There’s no shortage of reasons that people struggle to get a good night’s sleep, but a lot of them have have to do with the choices we make during the day. There are few feelings worse than lying awake in bed when you know you have to get up early, but we’re here to help you avoid that feeling.

Take a cold shower before bed


Your body starts to cool down when it’s time to go to bed, which is one of the reasons that’s it’s so much easier to fall asleep on a cool night as opposed to a hot one. If you want to fall asleep faster, you can help your body cool down by taking a cold shower before bed! Other options include turning your A/C up at night and putting a fan in your room. Whatever you do, don’t leave the window open on a hot Austin evening.


Work out earlier in the day


Working out causes your body to heat up, and as we mentioned before, your body needs to cool down before you can fall asleep. Try to avoid working out or doing any strenuous activity late in the evening.


Unplug your electronics


You know those little green, red and blue lights on your electronics? Those lights — small as they are — can actually prevent you from getting a good night’s sleep. Your body is super sensitive to light when it’s trying to sleep, and even little LED lights can cause you to wake up in the middle of the night. If you want to get high-quality sleep, unplug your power strips and electronics at night.


Develop a nighttime routine


Humans are creatures of habit, and habits help us fall asleep. If you want to fall asleep faster, try doing the same thing every night before bed. Cleaning your apartment is a good option, as is reading a book, or doing the dishes. It doesn’t matter what you do — all that matters is that you do the same thing every night. After a while, your body will begin to recognize that this routine means it’s time to start getting tired.
